There are currently thee types of far infrared heater types available and used in far infrared saunas. The key to selecting an efficient and effective heater is to consider the fact that far infrared is a light wave which travels in a relatively direct line from it's source.
Carbon Fibre / Flat Panel heaters - iHealth Saunas
Our Ultra Tech High Performance Carbon Fibre panel heaters provide a soft output, with lower surface temperature, whilst rapidly reaching the required cabin temperature. Ultra Tech Carbon Fibre Heaters produce more far infrared rays in the required spectrum than any other heater type, but uses 30-50% less power than other heaters. Our large panel size and intelligent placement ensures complete coverage, rapid heating and economical running costs.
iHealth Saunas Movable Ceramic "PURE WAVE" Heaters
Comprising of a concave shaped heater with multiple half-round ridges, this heater design offers a large surface area and several trajectories of far infrared spread. This heater design emits a concentrated band of far infrared across a wide arch. The end result is a heater that outperforms single rod ceramic heaters many times over. Another key feature is the cost efficiency of this heater type - around half that of the rod heaters.
The Ceramic Rod type heaters
This is the most commonly used heater element in the sauna industry. There are several variations on this one design, generally ranging in quality of materials used which directly affects the cost of the heaters, As the Ceramic rod heater is round in shape, it emits Far Infrared from the 360 degrees of surface area of the heater.
These heaters are extensively used by the cheap sauna manufacturers. They burn out regularly, we receive calls from all over Australia from people looking for replacement heaters from saunas that they purchased from E-bay.
